Deputy Supt. for Finance, Administration & Support

Brigadier General Robert L. Green, a 1967 VMI graduate, leads the Institute’s Finance, Administration and Support functions. He oversees several offices at VMI including: Treasurer, Auxiliary Services, Comptroller, Institute Planning, Physical Plant, Human Resources, Purchasing, Infirmary, Cadet Counseling, Police, Governmental Relations, Museum Operations, and Construction.
He received his Masters of Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1972, and was inducted into Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honorary Society.
General Green returned to VMI as the Acting Director of Cadet Affairs in 1997 and served in that post until he was promoted to his current position of Deputy Superintendent in 2000. He received the VMI Achievement Medal in February 2002 and again in 2006.
His service was most notable when in 2003 he stood in as Acting Superintendent of VMI. He served in this role until VMI's 14th Superintendent, General James H. Binford Peay III ‘62 arrived on Post in June 2003.
