Assistant/Associate Director, Career Services
Virginia Military Institute Career Services seeks an experienced professional for planning and implementing career programs and services through the use of innovative and multi-modal strategies to meet unit goals.
Provide career related advising/counseling and programming. Develop and coordinate an extensive internship program. Coordinate on-line career and graduate education informational resources. Manage office technology applications, including web site development and maintenance. Provide event planning and management for career development, graduate education and job search programs, including career fairs, workshops, and seminars. Coordinate on-line alumni mentoring network. Build collaborative relationships with diverse constituencies. Contribute to career services program assessment activities and employer relations initiatives.
Master’s degree in counseling, student personnel services, higher education administration, human resource management or related field required, along with related experience. Expertise with computer and web-based applications is necessary with desired experience using MS Office Professional software and web site software. Candidates should possess knowledge of career development theory, career services and graduate education resources and technology applications. Expertise with career counseling and career planning assessments preferred. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with a demonstrated ability to develop effective collaborative relationships with internal and external constituencies. Knowledge of and experience in program assessment/evaluation and learning outcomes are preferred. Demonstrated skills with web tools and technologies supporting career services are preferred. Also preferred are a collaborative and team-oriented work style, demonstrated flexibility and adaptability, as well as the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
