Faculty/Staff Help Desk Technician (full-time)

Virginia Military Institute is accepting applications for a full-time, entry-level position in busy call center setting which serves as incoming point of contact for faculty and staff (telephone, e-mail and walk-ins) inquiries for computer support services. Answer a high percentage of questions without the need to involve others. Use help desk ticketing software to log all calls with detailed information and assign detailed work orders to IT staff.

Requires: Detail oriented individual with IT skills to perform entry-level troubleshooting; able to work well with minimal supervision; able to work well independently as well as in a team setting; able to handle multiple jobs at one time; excellent organizational skills; excellent customer service skills; excellent verbal/written communication skills; previous telephone customer support; excellent computer skills (Windows XP/7 and MS Office 2007 and/or 2010); proficient keyboarding skills. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time in front of a computer.

Preferred: Associates Degree in Information Systems or similar field; Microsoft or A+ certification; Previous PC technician experience.
