19th Century Reports of the Superintendent
A Digital Collection from the VMI Archives

 The published reports of the Institute detail the significant events of each academic year. Containing both a Superintendent's section and reports from various committees of the Board of Visitors, the documents are a valuable resource for understanding all aspects of VMI's historical development.

Annual reports, which typically were issued in June or July and cover the just-completed academic year; i.e., the 1848 annual report covers the 1847-1848 school year.  Special reports were issued periodically to provide detailed information about specific topics or issues.
