Web Services 

The Office of Communications and Marketing is responsible for the creation and oversight of the Institute’s home page and many of its top-level pages. In addition, it is responsible for the development and maintenance of “mini sites” within the VMI Web site. “Mini sites” are self-contained, single subject Web sites that provide in-depth information to external or internal audiences. Examples are sites for matriculation, the finals period, and pandemic flu preparedness.

Services provided:

The Office of Communications and Marketing provides advice and assistance to departmental Webmasters in the maintenance and design of their sites. This office is not responsible for the development of content or for the updating of pages (except for certain high-level pages). Consultation with this office helps departments ensure their sites are in compliance with Institute policies, including legally binding requirements concerning accessibility. Among the services we provide are:

• Consultation on site design and navigation
• Accessibility compliance
• Images

Services we do not provide:

• Technical issues with your Website
• Assignment of friendly URLs
• Accounts establishment
• Webmaster training opportunities

Departments are responsible for:

• Developing content
• Ensuring their sites are current
• Posting material to their Web pages
• Ensuring their sites are  in compliance with Institute policies
