Join academic, political, and cultural leaders to address topics vital to our future: how to transform education, promote tolerance, inspire political reform, and advance human development so that we can build on the spirit and historical successes at those times when Christians, Jews, and Muslims lived side by side in Western Europe, forging a society that lit the Dark Ages. The conference has been carefully designed, through a series of panels and speakers, to provide balance and representation across views and to facilitate understanding.
At VMI, our responsibility is to prepare our cadets for the world they will face, regardless of their chosen career path. Over 60 percent of our next graduating class will receive commissions in military service. Many of those major in Arabic or International Studies & Political Science. VMI has one of the largest college Arabic language programs in the nation, another signal of our commitment to cadet preparedness for life after graduation. This conference will supplement the study of Arabic language with complex information to facilitate future relations between the East and the West, including a cultural event designed to provide a real life experience for attendees who have never visited the region.
