Implementing a Restricted/Limited Access Network to Protect PII
Philip Kobezak and Rich Sparrow
Protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is important to Virginia Tech. The increase risk posed by network based attacks and sophisticated information stealing malware on client machines has proved challenging for Virginia Tech’s historically open and flat network. Virginia Tech has started to implement a strategy to mitigate these risks by developing a restricted and limited access network along with the separation of secure/unsecure desktop environments.
