LEXINGTON, Va., July 20, 2011 – Results of the fundraising efforts of the VMI Foundation on behalf of Virginia Military Institute during fiscal year 2011 have been announced.
“As of June 30, 2011, alumni and friends of VMI had donated more than $10.9 million in immediate gifts and pledge payments in support of VMI during fiscal year 2011,” said Brian Scott Crockett, chief executive officer of the VMI Foundation. “Adding another $7.39 million in commitments, including more than $3.3 million through planned giving vehicles such as bequests, the grand total of gifts and commitments entrusted to the VMI Foundation is an impressive $18.3 million.
“Of particular interest is the performance of the Foundation Fund,” continued Crockett. “More than 4,100 donors – including 2,859 alumni – gave $2,542,674 in FY 2011.”
The unrestricted money raised through the Foundation Fund is especially prized by VMI because it allows the Institute’s leadership to pursue new opportunities for excellence in the academic and co-curricular programs.
“All in all,” said Crockett, “thanks to our generous and far-sighted donors, the VMI Foundation enjoyed another successful year of fundraising. More important, VMI’s extraordinary education will remain strong and attract even more high-quality young men and women to the Corps of Cadets.”
“All donors to VMI this past fiscal year deserve thanks for setting an excellent example of supporting this extraordinary college and the exceptional young people in the Corps. I am sure their loyalty will inspire the rest of the VMI family.”
