Captain Daniel Toshner
Captain Daniel Toshner is originally from Waterford, Wisconsin. He joined the Wisconsin National Guard as a Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) Cadet in 2002 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology. He commissioned in May 2004 as an Engineer Officer and attended Engineer Officer Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Captain Toshner was assigned to 3rd Special Troops Battalion (STB), 3rd Brigade, 101at Airborne Division (Air Assault), where he served as Assistant Battalion S-3, Light Equipment Platoon Leader, Sapper Platoon Leader, and Company Executive Officer. Captain Toshner transferred to Psychological Operations (PSYOP) and attended the PSYOP Qualification Course and Special Operations Language Training in Modern Standard Arabic . Upon graduation, he was assigned to 8th Psychological Operations Battalion and has served as Tactical Prodict Development Detachment Commander, Detachment Commander, Military Information Support Operations (MISO) Staff Planner, and Battalion S-5. He has deployed to Iraq twice, in SEP 2005 and JAN 2010, and once to Qatar in SEP 2011.
Captain Toshner’s Awards and Decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Ribbon, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Three Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Parachutist Badge.
Captain Toshner is happily married to the former Rosemary Holdridge of Springfield, MO.
