On June 24, Jacki Berkshire Bellairs became the VMI Foundation’s Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. In this position, she is responsible for cultivating and stewarding current foundation and corporate donors and helping identify new potential sources of support from corporations and foundations.
She comes back to VMI (her husband, Bart Bellairs, was VMI’s head basketball coach and Senior Assistant Director of Intercollegiate Athletics from 1993 to 2008) from Southeastern Louisiana University, where she had been the Director of Annual Giving, responsible for annual gifts from the university’s alumni, students, and friends and managing major fundraising and stewardship events. Her accomplishments include the establishment of a student giving effort and the expansion of electronic giving and recognition.
Bellairs holds a bachelor of science in early childhood education from James Madison University. She taught in Rockingham County Schools from 1990 to 1995. From 2005 to 2008, she was a teacher and reading specialist in Lexington City Schools.
Asked for her thoughts on returning to Post, Bellairs said, “First, it’s like coming home. The years spent at the Institute gave our family many memories and many friends. Second, it’s an overwhelming honor to work for a great institution like VMI. Finally, I am thrilled to join a team of dedicated and creative professionals who are dedicated to advancing VMI.”
“Jacki has extensive experience and an appreciation of the profoundly transformative nature of philanthropy,” said Brian Scott Crockett, CEO of the VMI Foundation. “Combined with her great love for VMI, they are certain to make her an exceptionally valuable addition to our team.”
