LEXINGTON, Va., Aug. 23, 2013 – VMI adjunct economics and business professor Dr. Bruce Mac Donald will talk about the roots of branding in medieval England this week on Public Radio’s With Good Reason.

In the show, “Then and Now,” MacDonald will talk about how William the Conqueror combined the crest of the defeated Harold with his own to create a logo that resonated with his new subjects. Thus began a custom of branding that continues in today’s business world.

Also on the show will be Ken Smith of Radford University and Brian Ulrich of Virginia Commonwealth University.

The show can be heard in the local area as follows: Sunday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m. on Radio IQ in Lexington at 91.5 FM, Charlottesville at 88.5, and Roanoke at 89.7; Monday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. on WMRA in Charlottesville at 103.5, Harrisonburg, at 90.7, Lexington at 89.9, and Winchester at 94.5; and Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 7:30 p.m. on WVTF in Abingdon at 90.1, Charlottesville at 89.3, Roanoke at 89.1, and Lexington, 101.9.

With Good Reason is sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. Audio files of the full program and its companion news feature will be posted later this week to the With Good Reason website,
