LEXINGTON, Va., Oct. 11, 2013 – Candidates for December graduation from VMI will receive their degrees in a ceremony at Jackson Memorial Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. R. Wane Schneiter, deputy superintendent for academics and dean of the faculty. Tickets are not required.
After commencement exercises are completed, the superintendent’s reception will follow in Moody Hall for cadets and their guests.
ROTC commissioning for December graduates will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m. in Jackson Memorial Hall.
Weather permitting, parking will be allowed on the Parade Ground for all activities. If heavy rain makes parking on the Parade Ground impractical, additional parking may be found throughout post on a first-come, first-served basis.
The area in front of barracks will become congested as all cadets depart at the same time. The VMI Police ask for cooperation and patience so that cadets may leave for Christmas furlough in the quickest and safest manner possible.
In order to graduate, cadets must have fulfilled all of their financial obligations with the comptroller’s office. The comptroller’s office is located on the 300 level of Smith Hall.
The commandant’s office will issue detailed guidance concerning clearance of barracks and accountability for Institute property.
