LEXINGTON, Va., Dec. 10, 2013 – Cadets at Virginia Military Institute will march in the inauguration parade of Gov.-elect Terry McAuliffe on the first day of his term, Saturday, Jan. 11.
“The Governor of Virginia has always had a historic and special relationship with VMI,” said Gen. J.H. Binford Peay III, VMI’s superintendent. “For us to be able to march in his honor on his first day in office is uniquely satisfying.”
Approximately 200 members of the Corps of Cadets will return to the Institute early from holiday leave to participate in the inaugural parade for Gov.-elect McAuliffe. The parade begins immediately following the noon swearing-in ceremony. Parade units march through downtown Richmond and pass in front of reviewing stands at the State Capitol building.
