The Richard F. Stolz International Studies Award
The Richard F. Stolz International Studies Award was established in 1995 by colleagues of Richard F. Stolz to honor his lifetime commitment to national security as an intelligence officer for 34 years. A plaque and a cash award are given annually to the graduating international studies major who best exemplifies integrity, scholarship, and an abiding curiosity of international affairs. A trip to Washington DC to meet various political officials is also part of the award.
The Letcher Prize
The John Letcher Memorial Prize is a cash prize awarded from the John Letcher Memorial Fund to a first or second class cadet (junior or senior) for a paper written on a political subject. Any cadet who wishes to enter a paper in this competition submits an entry to the head of the Department of International Studies and Political Science by May 1st of each year. Judges are selected from the members of the international studies faculty.
