Service Obligation

If you're selected to receive a scholarship, you will have a commitment to the Army after completing the program. You can fulfill it by either serving part time in the Army National Guard or Army Reserve, or full time on active duty.

Non-scholarship students have no obligation until your sophmore year in college. Once you decide to contract, your military obligation is as follows:

Active Duty Scholarship cadets:

  • 8 Year Commitment:
    • 4 years Active Duty
    • 4 years Additional of Active Duty, Reserve Forces duty or a combination of both
     

Active Duty Non-Scholarship cadets:

  • 8 Year Commitment:
    • 3 years of Active Duty
    • 5 years additional of Active Duty, Reserve Forces duty or a combination of both
     

Dedicated National Guard or Reserve Scholarship

  • 8 Year Commitment:
    • 6-years of “M-Day” service (1 weekend per month)
    • 2-weeks of Annual Training during the summer
    • 2-years additional service – M-day or Inactive National Guard (ING) or Inactive Ready Reserve (IRR)
