Phi Eta Sigma Scholarships (www.phietasigma.org) Both undergraduate and graduate scholarships for members of Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor society for college freshmen. Each member institution may nominate one undergraduate applicant per year. Apply in March.

Madison Fellowship (www.jamesmadison.com), for seniors who plan to teach history and who wish to study some aspect of the U.S. Constitution in their graduate work.

Mellon Scholarship (www.woodrow.org), for seniors who plan to pursue graduate work in the humanities, to support the first year of stud

Mitchell Scholarship (www.us-irelandalliance.org/scholarships.html), for seniors who wish to pursuer graduate study in Ireland, to support one academic year. Stresses qualities of intellectua; distinction and leadership similar ro those emphasized by the Rhodes, Gates and Marshall programs.

Saint Andrew’s Society Scholarship (www.thecapitalscot.com), for seniors of Scottish descent who live within a 100 mile radius of Washington, DC, for one year of graduate study in Scotland.

Soros Scholarship (www.pdsoros.org), for seniors who are “new Americans” (see definition on webpage) and who wish to pursue graduate study in the United State

Udall Scholarship (www.udall.gov), for sophomores or juniors pursuing studies in the environment, health care, or Native American issues.
