Information Technology Cadet Instructional Packet: This booklet answers many technology related questions such as "How to connect to the VMI Network", "What computer labs are available" and more.
Microsoft Campus Agreement: VMI provides Microsoft Operating System and Office Suite software to cadets free of charge.
Antivirus Software: Microsoft Security Essentials is free and designed to be simple to install and easy to use. This must be installed when using the VMI network.
Barracks Help Desk: The Barracks Help Desk is the central point of contact for cadets contacting the Information Technology Department. Cadets must report to the Barracks Help Desk for all technical support issues including password changes, assistance with Self Service Password, Security Awareness Training, and support for personally owned computers.
VMI Computer Recommendations: Cadets owning the VMI recommended model will receive priority support and faster turn around time" for service. If there is a virus and/or spyware issue the Cadet will be responsible for backing up their data as the technician will no longer provide data backup services and will re-image the laptop to provide faster service.
Appropriate Use Policy: This is an important document regarding access to computer systems and networks owned or operated by Virginia Military Institute.

Self Service Password: Self Service Password (SSP) provides VMI faculty, staff, and Cadets with a browser-based tool that enables secure reset of forgotten domain/network access passwords and the ability to unlock an account without assistance from Help Desk.
Security Awareness Training: New VMI computer users are required to complete security awareness training within 30 days of their engagement date. All users are required to complete the security awareness training at least once every year. Failure to do so will result in the account being disabled. A VMI computer user is defined as anyone who has been issued a VMI network account.
