VMI offers many advantages to men and women students who are interested in majoring in engineering. VMI offers a balance between theory and practical hands-on engineering with three accredited engineering programs: Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering.

Advantages of attending a small undergraduate college like VMI include:

• Small classes where professors know you personally
• Full-time professors with Ph.D. degrees who teach the classes and grade the assignments
• Placement rate of 97 percent for VMI graduates to employment or graduate or professional schools within four months of graduation

If you are interested in the military, you can earn a commission in the Army, Air Force, Navy, or Marine Corps, but this is not a requirement of VMI graduation.
