Charles Brower, IV, Brigadier General - Deputy Superintendent for Academics and Dean of the FacultyGreetings from the Virginia Military Institute!

These are exciting times at VMI, as we have undertaken a great crusade for institutional excellence. With unflagging and generous moral and financial support from our alumni and friends, VMI aims to establish itself as a premier small college in the nation, one possessing an international reputation for academic excellence and unequalled in producing educated and honorable leaders and citizens.

VMI’s academic program educates our cadets for the 21st Century, providing them the intellectual knowledge, skills, and abilities requisite for a complex and changing world. Our newly crafted Academic Program Mission and Vision statements guide our strategies for achieving Academic Program excellence.

Since 1839, VMI has graduated well educated and selfless citizen-leaders who have served the nation with distinction in peace and war. For me to have been given the opportunity to ensure that our future graduates are educated to assume this same leadership role is a rare privilege, indeed. I am truly honored to participate in VMI’s great teamwork for excellence and welcome always your comments, news and counsel.
