Parent Information Session

An opportunity for parents to learn about key cadet experiences that will help parents understand the Rat year. Institute officials will be available to answer questions.
This will end at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Parents Council Welcome Reception
Friday, 21 August 2009 in Marshall Hall - Center for Leadership and Ethics from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
The VMI Parents Council host a Pre-Matriculation Reception for parents of new cadets. Invitations are sent to the incoming cadets and their parents, who accept by returning a response card and pre-paying for the number attending. Tickets are sent directly to the parents.
The deadline for pre-paying for tickets, or canceling and receiving a refund, is 1 August 2009. Col. Thomas B. Moncure, Superintendent’s Liaison to the Parents Council, is the coordinator for this event and he can be contacted for additional information at (540) 464-7072 or MoncureTB@vmi.edu.

Mail, calls, etc.
Mail from home is the most important gift a cadet can receive. Be sure to get your new cadet’s box number. An occasional box of favorite foods from home also does wonders for a cadet’s morale. Please do not send cash through the mail. The quickest way to contact a cadet is to leave a message at the VMI Visitor Center (540-464-7306) or send an email after classes start.
Parents Weekend
Parents Weekend will be October 16-17, 2009 and is a very special time. Be sure to make your
reservations as soon as possible for overnight accommodations during Parents Weekend.
Check Cashing
The Cashier’s office (located in Smith Hall) cashes checks up to $200 and an ATM machine is located in the Daniels’ Courtyard (behind Maury-Brooke Hall).
VMI Bookstore – Lejeune Hall
New cadets will make several purchases in the bookstore during Cadre Week and these purchases have to be paid for at the time of sale by cash, check, or major credit card.
