VMI 5K Torch Run for Special Olympics 
LEXINGTON, Va., Feb. 22, 2010 – Will host a 5-kilometer Torch Run for Special Olympics on March 28. Registration is open to all.
Registration opens at 2 p.m. in Jackson Memorial Hall at VMI. The race begins at 3 p.m., and awards will be given following the race. The proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics Organization of Virginia.
Location/Directions: Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Va. 24450. From Interstate 64 take Exit 191 toward Lexington. Take Exit 55 toward Virginia Route 39/Lexington/Goshen. At the stop sign at the end of the ramp take a left onto U.S. Route 11 S/N Lee Highway. After the bridge veer right onto U.S. Route11 Business toward Lexington. Travel approximately a mile. Route 11/Main Street will split and become Jefferson Street. Immediately turn right onto Letcher Avenue and follow Letcher Avenue up to Post and the Parade Ground.
Parking: Parking is available around the VMI Parade Ground, behind the George C. Marshall Museum, and in the lot beside Crozet Hall. A VMI Post Map is available on the VMI website (www.vmi.edu) with these locations labeled.
Course: Challenging and scenic, a 5K course run on the pavement and dirt surface of the VMI campus and the Chessie Trail. (No Strollers, Please)
Registration: Fill out the linked registration form and mail with registration fee to the address below. Registration fee prior to March 19 is $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Late and race day registration for all entrants will be $20 per person. Registration Form.
