Governance & Committee Structures
The Director of Information Technology reports directly to the Superintendent, and is a member of the Institute Planning Committee (IPC), the group of key Institute leaders chaired by the Chief of Staff, that coordinates all Institute policies, activities and budgets.
Decisions related to technology that do not have cross-departmental implications will be made by the Technology Steering Committee (TSC), chaired by the Director of Information Technology who will inform the IPC.
When decisions related to technology cut across departmental lines, the Superintendent charges the Director of Information Technology with responsibility for departments, programs, resources and staff that are involved with the strategic acquisition of, training in, and application and integration of mutually agreed-upon technologies that cut across departmental lines. In these cases, the Superintendent authorizes the Director of Information Technology to bring recommendations from the TSC to the IPC for coordination and decisions or directly, as appropriate.
The TSC oversees three Institute-wide committees that represent the key areas of strategic importance to technological innovation within the Institute: Technology, Teaching and Learning (educational technologies and media), Enterprise Technologies (Post-wide technological infrastructure), and Web Administration (structure and application of web-based tools.)
The Director of Information Technology, as chair of the TSC and in coordination with the IPC, appoints the members of the TSC and its committees. Committee memberships may be held for three years.
