System Outages

2009-09-07, 1105 hours - Intermittent Post View Outage

Information Technology is currently experiencing a problem with the intermittent locking of Post View accounts.   Administrators are working to resolve the issue.  Updates will be posted as they become available.


2009-08-18, 1615 hours - Voice Mail Outage

A system failure this afternoon has caused an interruption in voice mail service for all users.  Callers will not be prompted to leave a message at this time.


2009/06/29, 0815 hours - Server Outage

Information Technology is currently experiencing a problem with a server which is affecting your ability to login.  You may receive a message that your account is locked and denied login access.  If you do get logged in, you will not have access to network drives and you will have limited internet activity.


2009/06/24, 0800 hours - Colleage/Post View Outage

Information Technology is currently experiencing a problem with Post View and Colleague/Datatel.  The system administrator is aware of the problem and is working to resolve it as quickly as possible; however, he has advised that the system will be down for several hours.


2009/05/27, 1250 hours - Network Printing Service Down

All network printing is currently unavailable.  IT network administrators are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.  An update will be provided as soon as it is available.  Please contact the Help Desk at 7643 or email Help@vmi.edu if you have any further questions.


2009/05/18, 0900 hours - Email Outage

Information Technology is currently experiencing problems with email.  A technician is working on the problem and hopes to have it resolved soon.  A update will be placed on the web when the problem is corrected.  Please contact the Help Desk at 7643 if you have any further questions.


2009/04/01, 0900 hours - Internet Outage

Update:  Internet connectivity was restored 4/1/09 at 0920 hours.

The Internet is currently down.  The problem has been traced back to a Sprint circuit.  The Sprint technicians are working to resolve the problem and will notify us as soon as it has been repaired.  IT will send updates as they are provided by Sprint.


2009/01/31, 2330 hours - Internet Outage

Information Technology experience an interruption in Internet connectivity on Saturday,  31 January 2009 from approximately 2330 to 2400 hours due to equipment failure.


2009/01/22, 1700 hours - Internet Outage

At 1800 hours on 22 January 2009 Internet access was unavailable.  Information Technology made the necessary repairs and restored this access at approximately 1900 hours.


2009/01/12, 0930 hours - Outlook Problem

We are currently experiencing a problem with Outlook.  The network server administrator is currently working on the problem.  Users will also notice a brief interruption of Internet services.  Updates will be posted to keep users informed.  Please contact the Help Desk at 7643 if you have any further questions.


2008/11/17, 1845 hours - Network Drives Unavailable

Network drive mappings have been restored.  It is recommended that users log off their computers and logon again.

Information Technology is currently experiencing problems with the Datatel & Post View systems.  The department is investigating the problem and working toward a solution.  The VMI community will be notified when the problem has been resolved.
