This program is available to children 12 months to 10 years of age. Each week will carry a different theme of exploration, learning, and play. Every session will also include swimming at the W&L pool, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures and games, creek exploring, and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are we expected to provide the player as a host family?

Many players find work during the day and arrive at the field for games in the mid-afternoon. Those that don’t work typically sleep late or work out prior to the games. Therefore, their needs are relatively simple: a room, access to a bathroom and a laundry room (for personal laundry- team uniforms are laundered for player), pantry and fridge space for their groceries, a place to park a car, and a family to cheer them on.

Will the player have a car? If not, will we be expected to drive him places?

Many players will have their own car. Players who do not have cars are strategically housed close to the field or to players who do have cars, so their teammates can provide rides. We do not expect host families to drive our players around.

We would like to host a player, but we are leaving town for vacation for two weeks, and don’t feel comfortable leaving the player alone in our home. Is it possible to still participate?

We would prefer not to have players move once they have settled in with a family, but we understand your concern. Players can move into another home temporarily while you are away. We also find that some families like having someone in home while they are away to take care of the family pet, take out the trash, check mail, etc.

Is it possible to request a certain position player or player from a particular college/university?

We will do our best to accommodate all requests. However, please keep in mind that because of the sometimes complicated logistics of placing players with allergies into pet-free families, and locating players with and without cars close to each other, it is not always possible to honor all requests.

We have pets. Do you make sure that players don’t have pet allergies?

We ask about allergies and whether host families have pets, and try to make sure that allergic players aren’t housed with animals they can’t be around.

What happens if there’s a problem with the placement?

Our players appreciate host families’ hospitality, and generally behave as guests in your home. If there is a minor problem, we ask that you contact the host family coordinator, who will work to try to resolve it with the player. If the problem is major, we will remove the player immediately.

Will players be using our phones? We don’t want to get late-night phone calls.

Players bring their cell phones and use them exclusively for their phone calls.

We don’t want our player to use our home as the place to hangout.

It is your home and we ask the players to honor any guidelines/rules that you establish.

What if a player’s friends or family comes into town, are we expected to let them sleep over?

It is recommended that friends and family that come into town to visit stay at a hotel. Local hotels offer discounts for families and fans coming to town. The player is more than welcome to move to the hotel with family and friends on those days.

I would really like a player who will help our son with his baseball skills. Is this possible?

During any free time that the player has, he is free to help out around the home or work with younger athletes. However, keep in mind that the players have a fairly busy schedule and might not have a lot of free time.
