Clubs and Organizations

At VMI, cadets are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and clubs. Cadet clubs are an opportunity to serve, compete, and develop leadership skills.

Extracurricular options include Club Sports, Civil War Roundtable, Marksmanship Club, Regimental Band, Search and Rescue Squad, The Bomb YearbookFishing Club, Soaring Club, Ranger Challenge, Semper Fi Society, Firefighters, Brass Ensemble, Glee Club, Ethics Club, Keydets Without Borders, and VMI TheaterIn academic and professional societies, cadets plan events, invite speakers, and deliver their own scholarly papers.


Cadets write, edit, and manage The Bomb.  VMI's yearbook chronicles events and experiences. The Bomb was first published in 1885 and has been published continuously since 1897.

Regimental Band

The Regimental Band organized into its own company of 152 cadets within the Corps and provides music for ceremonies on Post as well as for athletic events.
