Col. A. Cash Koeniger

Professor Koeniger's courses deal with the American South, the Civil War, and the United States in the twentieth century. His several dozen publications include articles pertaining to each of these fields, most prominently in the Journal of American History and the Journal of Southern History. He taught at Murray State, Mississippi State, and the University of Southern Mississippi before joining the VMI faculty in 1986. In addition to departmental duties, Koeniger serves as director of the VMI Alumni College, which meets annually in the summer. He holds a bachelor's degree from Washington & Lee and the Ph.D. from Vanderbilt.
