Career Path 

Major John Driscoll is a native of New Gloucester, Maine.  He graduated from the Corps of Cadets at Norwich University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was commissioned as am Aviation 2nd Lieutenant.  As a newly qualified UH-60 Blackhawk pilot, he served as the Headquarters and Headquarters Company Executive Officer in 2nd Battalion, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade at Camp Stanley, Republic of Korea.  Upon completing his short tour, he was assigned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 101st Airborne Division and served with the 7th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade.  He served as a Flight Operations Officer and General Support Aviation Company Executive until he deployed with his unit to Operation Iraqi Freedom in November 2005 where he served as a Battalion Battle Captain as well as flying combat missions throughout Iraq.  During the second half of his tour, he served with the 563rd Aviation Support Battalion as an Aviation Maintenance Platoon Leader.  His next assignment brought him to Fort Drum, NY, where he served as a Division Aviation Operations Officer and deployed a second time to Operation Iraqi Freedom from May 2008 to May 2009.  Later, he was assigned to United States Army – Japan at Camp Zama and immediately assumed command of A Company, 78th Aviation Battalion in July 2009, serving as the commander through October 2010.  Captain Driscoll is currently assigned as an Assistant Professor of Military Science and Battalion S-1 at the Marshall-New Market Army ROTC Battalion at Virginia Military Institute.

Major Driscoll is a graduate of the Initial Entry Rotary Wing school, Aviation Officer Basic Course, Aviation Captains Career Course, Aviation Maintenance Manager Course, Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape Level C, Personnel Recovery Coordinator Course, and SOCC Instructor Training.  He is qualified in the OH-58A/C Scout Helicopter and the UH-60A/L Helicopter.

Personal 

Major Driscoll is married to the former Angela Laney of Elba, Alabama.  They have 4 children, twins Hannah and Eve (5), Lillie (2), and William (1).
