His most recent books include The Rhetoric of St. Augustine of Hippo: De Doctrina Christiana and the Search for a Distinctly Christian Rhetoric (Baylor UP, 2008), co-edited with Richard Leo Enos et al., and Beyond Duty: Life on the Frontline of Iraq (Polity, 2009), a memoir of CPT Shannon Meehan's tragic experiences in Iraq. He teaches courses in rhetoric, literature, composition, and creative writing.
