LEXINGTON, Va., June 28, 2017 – Virginia Military Institute will not be hosting events during the 2017 July 4th extended weekend. Events held in past years at the Institute, including a fireworks display and a balloon rally, will be held instead at the Virginia Horse Center.

The Lexington Sunrise Rotary Club will hold its 21st  annual celebration of American independence on Sunday, July 2. The event, to be held at the Horse Center, will include fireworks, food, crafts, and live music. For more information, visit the Rotary Club's website.

Admission to the Rotary Club's festival is free, but a parking fee of $5 will be charged.

Hot air balloons will be seen over Lexington as part of the Balloons over Rockbridge event held July 3-5 at the Horse Center. In addition to balloon rides, the event includes live music, a balloon glow, a 5k race, food trucks, and area breweries and wineries.

For more information, visit the Balloons over Rockbridge Facebook page.
