Miller Academic Center
It is the Miller Academic Center's mission to help students develop skills and strategies that will enable them to become independent, active learners and to achieve academic success. Available to all students, the Center's programs and services reflect the following goals:
- foster student personal responsibility and accountability for learning
- identify learning styles, strengths, and areas for development
- address cognitive, affective, and socio-cultural dimensions of learning
- work closely with faculty to collaborate efforts to support student success
- assist students in developing:
- the ability to assess a learning task, set goals, and identify strategies to accomplish the task, monitor their progress, and adjust strategies and behaviors to produce successful learning outcomes
- the affective skills that influence learning, such as concentration, motivation, problem solving, and stress management
- positive attitudes toward learning and confidence in their ability to learn
Programs are designed to enhance the educational experiences of students at all levels and assist in the development of life-long learners.
