Faculty Position, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering
The Virginia Military Institute Civil & Environmental Engineering Department invites applications for two full-time tenure-track faculty positions in the general areas of Construction Management and Wastewater/Water Resources. Both positions will be at the assistant or associate professor level. The successful candidates will be expected to teach a variety of basic engineering and junior and senior design courses, advise/supervise students, and engage in scholarly and/or professional activity. Performance is evaluated on the basis of 1) teaching, 2) scholarly engagement, 3) professional citizenship, and 4) cadet development. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, and must have excellent teaching and communication skills. Industry experience is preferred and professional registration, or the ability to obtain registration within two years of appointment, is required. The appointment begins 1 August 2010. The department is ABET accredited in Civil Engineering and VMI is a public, four-year undergraduate military college for men and women (1500 students).
