Application Process
The process for applying for VMI Financial Aid consists of two important steps:
- Completion of the VMI Financial Aid Application
Completion of the
FAFSA - the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
*To complete the FAFSA electronically you will need to register for a PIN number. The PIN number serves as your electronic signature. You and your parent can register for a PIN number at www.pin.ed.gov.
Verification of your FAFSA information MAY be required by the Federal Government. Approximately 30% of a school's financial aid applicants are selected for verification. Cadets selected for verification are required to submit a verification worksheet and signed copies of the cadet's and parent's current federal tax return. Other documentation may be requested. The VMI Financial Aid Office will notify those applicants selected for verification.
Financial Aid funds are disbursed to a cadet's account and applied against charges for tuition, fees, room and board. Loan funds are disbursed 30 days after classes begin for incoming cadets.
