Veteran Journalist to Speak at VMI March 22

Jim Lehrer, executive editor and anchor of the PBS NewsHour, will present a talk, “Service and Tradition,” to the VMI Corps of Cadets at 11:15 a.m. Monday, March 22, in Cameron Hall. The talk, which is part of the Institute’s Distinguished Speakers Series, is free and open to the public.

He came at the request of the VMI Corps of Cadets, and the Corps – along with residents and students in the nearby community – turned out in large numbers March 5 to hear his story.

Styron Scholar Finds Author’s Letters Moving

James West discussed the life of award-winning author William Styron, a native of Newport News, Va., and author of Sophie’s Choice and The Confessions of Nat Turner, during an address to the Friends of Preston Library and the Institute Honors Program March 3 at the library.
