Grounds Worker/Equipment Operator

VMI is accepting applications for two full-time Grounds Equipment Operators. Operates trucks, tractors, backhoes, front-end loaders, mowers, snowplows and other equipment related to preventive and corrective maintenance. Responds to emergency situations as needed during and after hours to include snow and ice removal. Performs manual labor with members of grounds crew in the maintenance of grounds and facilities when there is no need for heavy equipment operation. Monitors security of equipment and facilities, reporting unusual conditions to supervisor.
Requires knowledge of arithmetic, units of measure and equipment maintenance; working skill in the use of hand tools; ability to operate motor vehicles; valid driver’s license with clean driving record; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to perform heavy manual labor; ability to work from heights; high school diploma/GED; basic computer skills. JLG Lift and Bucket Truck certificate [required within 6 months from date of employment]; Registered Technician pesticide license [required within 12 months from date of employment]
