The VMI Foundation respects the right of our donors to keep their gifts and personal information private. Donors who want to keep their gifts and/or commitments anonymous should make their wishes known as soon as possible in the gift process.
We are happy to provide detailed financial records to our donors concerning their current and past giving as well as provide information on the status of endowments they have established. We also are willing to provide information on general fundraising and stewardship practices.
As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the VMI Foundation is not subject to Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act and is not required to disclose information about private gifts without donor permission.
Audit: Annually, the VMI Alumni Agencies—to include the VMI Foundation—are subjected to a thorough financial audit. The results of that audit are posted on this website in the form of a Combined Financial Statement. It can be found on the page entitled “Financial Statements".
Form 990: Federal law also requires charitable organizations to file a Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service. A completed IRS Form 990 contains detailed financial facts on a charity including, but not limited to, information on income, expenses, assets and liabilities. The organization’s financial position also is provided on the Form 990.
