Call for Presentations
We are pleased to announce a Call for Presentations for the 25th Annual Environment Virginia Symposium, hosted by the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, 8-10 April 2014. Presentations will be accepted on-line, 1 August - 30 September 2013. We invite submissions on the topics below for a traditional or speed presentation:
- Air Quality
- Ecology
- Emergency Response
- Energy Development and Efficiency
- Environmental Education
- Environmental Policy
- Ground water
- Human health
- Land Conservation
- Materials Recovery
- Nutrient Reduction
- Stormwater Management
- Sustainability in Higher Education
- Waste water
- Water Supply
- Water quality
Abstracts will be reviewed in a blind review process by 4-6 reviewers. A limited number of presentations will be accepted. Abstracts should be no more than 350 words and include three learning outcomes for attendees. They will be judged on the following elements:
- Measureable environmental improvement
- Measureable cost savings or efficiency
- Innovation
- Virginia-focused research
- Ability to replicate in other businesses, governments, or organizations
- Currency
Authors of accepted abstracts must be available to present on Tuesday, 8 April; Wednesday, 9 April; or Thursday, 10 April. Accepted speakers are responsible for their symposium registration fee at the early rate and their hotel and transportation costs. The full symposium program will be a combination of invited plenary speakers, invited break-out session presenters, and accepted authors. Notification of Acceptance will be made on 14 November.
