Captain Samuel D. Carney
Captain Carney graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2003 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in History and Minor in Spanish. He was commissioned as an Infantry Second Lieutenant in the Virginia Army National Guard. In 2005 he transferred to the West Virginia National Guard to join 19th Special Forces Group. His previous duty assignments include: Infantry Platoon Leader, Special Forces Company XO, and Special Forces Detachment Commander. As a civilian, Capt. Carney has worked for Booz Allen Hamilton where he consulted with CENTCOM, Joint Staff, Navy and CYBERCOM. Capt. Carney currently serves as the Military Science I Branch chief in the Army ROTC Department. His deployments include Operation Enduring Freedom in 2009 where he served as a Detachment Commander and Battle Captain.
