American History Guy to Speak at VMI

LEXINGTON, Va., Oct. 9, 2012 – Peter Onuf, the “18th-century guy” on public radio’s BackStory with the American History Guys, will speak at Virginia Military Institute Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Onuf, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Professor emeritus in University of Virginia’s Corcoran Department of History, is one of the foremost scholars of Thomas Jefferson. His talk, “Jefferson’s Revolution and the Declaration of Independence,” will begin at 7:45 p.m. in the Turman Room in Preston Library.

Onuf is the author or editor of numerous books, including, most recently, The Mind of Thomas Jefferson.

The talk, which is open to the public, is sponsored by VMI’s Department of History and by the Society of the Cincinnati in Virginia.
