Annual Giving

Alumni and friends of VMI can support VMI by participating in the umbrella effort of the VMI Foundation and the VMI Keydet Club known as Annual Giving. Through the Foundation Fund, the Keydet Club Scholarship Fund, and the Athletic Operations Fund, this effort raises unrestricted money for academic and co-curricular programs, grant-in-aid assistance for cadet-athletes, and operation of intercollegiate athletic programs.

Foundation Fund:  Through the Foundation Fund, VMI’s alumni and friends give the unrestricted money that helps VMI improve its renowned academic and co-curricular programs and reinforce their successes.  Programs supported by the Foundation Fund make VMI distinct from other colleges.

Keydet Club Scholarship Fund: VMI’s cadet-athletes are extraordinary young people. They accept the considerable challenges of being VMI cadets while also competing at the highest level of intercollegiate athletic competition: the NCAA’s Division I.  However, being a top competitor does not guarantee they have the funds to attend VMI.  Members of the VMI Family provide grant-in-aid scholarship assistance to these young people by donating annually to the Keydet Club Scholarship Fund.

Athletic Operations Fund: VMI athletics are at the core of the VMI experience, offering many opportunities for athletes to develop as leaders.  Roughly 30 percent of the Corps are NCAA athletes. The day-to-day workings of VMI’s intercollegiate program and the work of VMI’s committed coaches and staff receive financial support through this Fund.  State law prohibits the spending of public funds on intercollegiate athletics, so donations to this fund are vital to the success of VMI athletics.
