How to Log into the System 

Select the login button. You will be prompted with a login box. In the username box type “vmi\your domain name”, then type in your password into the password box in order to log into the VMI system. For example, if your name was Eric J. Smith, in the username box you would type in “vmi\smithej” and then your password for the system.

How to Make a Post 

You begin by selecting which forum you would like to make a post in (i.e. Thanksgiving Break, Various Weekends, etc.). You select your forum to view if there is a post already and if not you begin a new topic by selecting the “New Topic” button. Fill in the Subject line if you will need a ride (i.e. Ride to Washington, D.C.) and provide further details in the message box below (i.e. will pay for gas, date and time). After you have completed the information click “Post”.

How to Respond to a Post 

If you would like to respond to a post you can do so in two different ways. One, you can select reply and you follow the same steps as you would to make a post. Your post will be available for everyone to see. Two, you can write a message to the person. To do so select the “message” button, type in your response and click “send”. Your message is send privately.  If you send the person a message it will be relayed to their rideshare account as well as to their email.

How to subscribe to a particular ride share forum 

By subscribing to a particular forum it allows you to receive up-to-date posts via email To subscribe via email, you first select the forum in which you want updates about (i.e. Thanksgiving Break), then at the top of the page next to the “new topic” button you select the little white envelope. Next you select the notification type (i.e. all posts or just replies to your post) and click “Update Subscription”.

How to unsubscribe to a particular ride share forum 

To unsubscribe to a particular forum select the forum in which you subscribe to and click the little white envelope again. Select the “Unsubscribe” box and click “Update Subscription”.

How to check messages on the ride share forum 

In order to check your messages on the rideshare website, log in and select “control panel”. From here you are able to see incoming and outgoing messages.
