VMI is a member of the Big South Conference which consists of nine institutions and sponsors 17 Division I Championships with league crowns awarded in eight men's sports and nine women's sports. VMI is also a member of the Southern Conference for wrestling, and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for Lacrosse.
