Mission Critical Support

Information Technology should be notified immediately when problems are discovered associated with any of the items outlined below. To report problems, please contact the Help Desk via phone at (540) 464-7643 or email at Help@vmi.edu. After normal business hours, calls received will be handled by the Help Desk Auto Attendant. This system will page the technician responsible if the system is a mission critical system. These items are divided into two categories: those receiving support 24 hours a day by 7 days a week; and those supported 0800 to 1630, Monday through Friday.

24 hours a day by 7 days a week:

Maximum allowable downtime during normal business days is 24 hours.
Maximum allowable downtime when Post is closed is variable.

  • Angel
  • Colleague/Post View (Note:  Datatel vendor support is limited to 0800-2200 hours, Monday through Friday)
  • Exchange system (email), including OWA (Outlook Web Access)
  • Network Core Devices located in NEB 314
  • Post internet connectivity
  • Post-wide Shared Storage including departmental, teaching, and personal
  • Telephone system (excluding cell phones)
  • Web server

Items supported 0800 to 1630, Monday through Friday.

Maximum allowable downtime during normal business days is 24 hours.
Maximum allowable downtime when Post is closed will be until Post is reopened plus 36 hours.
