VMI Campus Liaison Officer-CAPT Brian L. Quisenberry, USN
Undergraduate programs:
BACCALAUREATE DEGREE COMPLETION PROGRAM (BDCP)
Provides money for students to focus on completing their degree without having to take on a part-time job. Enrollees graduate with a guaranteed job as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. The BDCP Program is currently closed until 2013.
Eligibility:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Meet commissioning standards for desired specialty
- Minimum of 2.7 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours completed
- Less than 36 months to graduation
- Less than 34 years of age before degree completion (some specialties have younger age requirements)
Benefits:

CIVIL ENGINEERING CORPS COLLEGIATE PROGRAM (CEC)
Provides money for students to focus on completing their degree without having to take on a part-time job. Enrollees graduate with a guaranteed job as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy.
Eligibility:
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be physically qualified
- 19-35 years old on date of commissioning
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (engineering or architecture degree)
- 24 months or less from graduation (in an accredited ABET or NAAB program)
Benefits:
- Earn up to $104,000 while in college
- Medical/dental coverage with life insurance
- Possible advancement while in college
- College years enrolled in program counts toward retirement
- Full-time student; military duties begin after degree is obtained
NUCLEAR PROPULSION OFFICER CANDIDATE (NUPOC)
Serve for five years in the Navy after commissioning as a Nuclear Submarine Officer (open only to males) or as a Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer. The first year of service includes six months of technical training in Charleston, SC at the Nuclear Power Training Center followed by six months of hand-on training at a Nuclear Power Training Unit.
Eligibility:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be physically qualified
- 19-29 years old at commissioning (waivers up to 31 years old considered)
- 30 months or less to graduation
- Completed one (1) year of calculus and physics with a grade of “C” or better
- Be enrolled in a regionally accredited college or university
Benefits:
- $15,000 sign-on bonus
- Earn up to $150,000 while in college

- Full-time student, no military duties while in college
- $2,000 training completion bonus (paid after Nuclear Power Training Unit)
NUCLEAR POWER INSTRUCTOR/NAVAL REACTORS ENGINEER
Serve for four years as a Nuclear Power Instructor at the Nuclear Power Training Center in Charleston, SC, or serve five years as a Naval Reactors Engineer working at the Naval Reactors Headquarters, Washington, DC.
Eligibility:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be physically qualified
- 19-29 years old at commissioning (waivers up to 35 years old considered)
- 30 months or less to graduation (12 months for Nuclear Reactors Engineer)
- Completed one (1) year of calculus with a grade of “B” or better
- Completed one (1) year of physics with a grade of “B” or better
- Completed all technical courses with a grade of “B” or better
- Be enrolled in a full-time technical degree at a regionally accredited college or university

- No Sea Duty required
Graduate Programs:
HEALTH PROFESSION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (HPSP)
Receive a scholarship for training in Medical, Dental, or Optometry school and have a guaranteed job upon graduation. Note: All billets prior to the graduating class of 2016 have been filled.
Eligibility:
- Accepted to the next entering class or currently enrolled in a school of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, or optometry in the United States or Puerto Rico that is accredited by the AMA, AOA (osteopathic), ADA (dental) or COE (optometric)
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be physically qualified
Benefits:
- Full tuition towards four (4) years of medical, dental or optometry school
- All school-related fees and expenses (excluding room & board), reimbursement for books and equipment, and a monthly stipend of $1,907 per month
- Graduate debt-free; no expensive start-up costs; no malpractice insurance because the U.S. Navy covers you.
HEALTH SERVICES COLLEGIATE PROGRAM (HSCP)
This scholarship provides cash for college and a guaranteed job as a commissioned officer in the Navy Medical Service Corps, or Dental Corps upon graduation. Note: All billets prior to the graduating class of 2016 have been filled.
Eligibility:
- Be enrolled in, or accepted for transfer to, an accepted college or university in a course of study leading to a degree in a designated health profession (Pharmacy, Health Care Administrator, Optometrist, Dentist); other specialties may be eligible

Medical
- 48 months or less to graduation
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be physically qualified
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
