Robert L. McMasters, Ph.D., P.E.

Here are some things I’m working on:

VMI Classes

This area provides information for VMI cadets and is the home of the "Photo of the Week".

Engine Research

VMI cadets are performing Dynomometer tests on internal combustion engines burning bio-based fuels.

Parameter Estimation

This is the field of fitting mathematical models to measured data, usually in pursuit of finding one or more unknown parameters.

The Fish Project

This project, involving several professors at Michigan State University, includes work on comparing experimental data from our mechanical fish to mathematical models which describe underwater performance.

Exact Solutions for Heat Conduction

This project, involving Prof. James V. Beck of Michigan State University, includes a computer program which generates extremely accurate solutions of  3D thermal conduction problems, with any combination of boundary conditions.

FDA Work

Modeling the growth of microbiological organisms, such as Listeria, has been something I have done, with funding from the US Food and Drug Administration.

Personal Background

Here’s a link to information about my background, family and outside interests.

McMasters-Maury

This statue honors VMI Professor Matthew Fontaine Maury, "Pathfinder of the Seas", for whom Maury-Brooke Hall at VMI is named as well as Maury Hall at the U.S. Naval Academy.
