Work Experience

2002- present:  Professor of Arabic and French, Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, VMI, Lexington, VA, USA.  Teaching  and developing curriculum for the Arabic Program.  Developed and taught all the necessary courses to establish a minor and a major in Arabic.

1994-2002: Professor & Director of the Research Unit “Literary Theory and Practice” with Emphasis on Arab & French literature and Culture at:  Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah University, Fès, Morocco.

2001:  Director of for Summer Training Program for African & Maghrebi Assistant Teachers  in African & Maghrebi Literature (Liege University Belgium)

1999:   Founder of LATA Center (Centre de Langues Appliquées au Tourisme et aux Affaires) with AFELSH in Sénégal, A Study Abroad Program for West African Students.

1998-2000: Arabic, Berber and French teacher at the Arabic Language Institute of Fes.

1985-2002:  Professor of Comparative Literature and Translation (Arabic-French) and Ph.D. Dissertation supervisor at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah University, Fes, Morocco, Mohammed Premier University, Oujda, Morocco, Moulay Ismail University and Hassan the Second University, Casablanca. Supervised 40 Ph.D. dissertations and over 50 M.A. dissertations.  I continue to supervise Ph.D. dissertations of former students at Sidi Mohamed ben Abdellah University.

1986-1993: Dean of the Faculty of letters and Human Sciences of Mohamed I Univ.     Oujda, Morocco and Professor and Director of post graduate studies in African Literature Written in French.

Visiting Professor (Short Term) University Paris IV (1990-1996) to participate in the 3rd cycle seminar organized by C.I.E.F. ( Centre International d’ Etudes Francophones).

Summer 1988, 1989,1990:  Visiting Professor Paris XII Univ. Summer 1988, 89, 90 for the seminar organized by C.E.R.C.L.E.F.

1977-1986:  Assistant Professor of French literature, and comparative Literature. Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences University Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, Dhar El Mehraz Fes. Morocco

1981-1986: Spokesman of the French Department at the National Forums on the reform of National Education.

1986-2001: Professor and founder of The 3rd cycle seminar in French and Francophone Literature, at  3 different Institutions: Mohamed Ben Abdellah Univ. Fes, Mohamed I  in Oujda, Beni Msik Sidi Othman  in Casablanca

1976-1977:  Professor of Linguistics at the C.P.R. (Centre Pédagogique Régional) Meknès. Morocco.

1976-1977: Teacher Training at the Academy of Strasbourg.  France

1972-1975 Teacher of French and philosophy at Jean Jacques Rousseau High School. Meknes.

1984-1990:  Arabic Language Teacher at the Alliance Française for Jewish Students.
