The Department of Chemistry is committed to supporting cadets choosing to major in chemistry at VMI. As such, we have designated funds to be awarded to cadets who show promise and excel within the program.
As a cadet, you could earn up to $30,000 in scholarship funds through the department to support your undergraduate education and cadetship at VMI.
During your first year as a chemistry major, you will receive $4,000*. In subsequent years, the amount of the award will be based on your cumulative and major GPA.

Anticipated Scholarships*
- 3rd Class Cadets (Sophomores): $7,000
- 2nd Class Cadets (Juniors): $8,000
- 1st Class Cadets (Seniors): $11,000
Level 2
Criteria
GPA above 2.749
Anticipated Scholarships*
- 3rd Class Cadets (Sophomores): $5,000
- 2nd Class Cadets (Juniors): $6,000
- 1st Class Cadets (Seniors): $9,000
