MISSION: Secure Our Nation’s Interests In, From, And To Space.
The United States Space Force (USSF) is the newest branch of the Armed Forces, established December 20, 2019. Air Force ROTC offers a direct pathway into the Space Force for cadets classified as a Space Operations Officer upon graduation. It is organized under the Department of the Air Force in a manner very similar to how the Marine Corps is organized under the Department of the Navy.
The U.S. Space Force protects our country and the freedom to operate in space, keeping it secure, stable and accessible for military space power and new waves of innovation.
The Space Force offers many officer career fields that each bring unique and vital contributions to the Space Force mission. Technical and non-technical degree programs are applicable to the Space Force.
The Program
As a prospective cadet you will attend classes and training the same as any other AFROTC cadet. In your sophomore (AS200) year you will compete for a USSF EA. If earned you will officially be on your way to earning a commission in the USSF.
You will continue to Field Training during the summer following your sophomore year, then in the summer of your junior year you will attend “Azimuth” a premier training program modeled after NASA’s two-year Astronaut Training Program, Azimuth introduces the cadets to space through academics, industry and military visits, neutral buoyancy, zero gravity, and rocket building.
Upon graduation, cadets will commission as Second Lieutenants in the USSF.

Newly commissioned LTs will PCS to Peterson SFB, and attend the Officer’s Training Course (OTC) for one year prior to their first assignment. OTC covers ongoing Space Ops, Intel, Cyber, Orbital Mechanics, and Joint Mission Planning.
