Lt Col Cary Wilson is assigned as the Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 880 at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia. He is responsible for developing over 300 cadets into world-class officers and leaders for the United States Air Force.

Lt Colonel Cary Wilson entered the Air Force in 2005 after commissioning out of AFROTC Det. 915 at West Virginia University. He began his career in the Joint Program Office at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio working on helmet mounted cueing and night vision systems. From there he was selected to attend the Aeronautical Engineering program at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), where he focused his research on alternative fuels in small internal combustion engines with a follow on assignment to AFRL where he continued this research in addition to contributing to other high profile jet propulsion projects. In 2012, Lt Col Wilson was assigned to the F-16 program office at Hill AFB, where he led the charge on next generation avionic upgrades for all Air National Guard and AF Reserve F-16 aircraft. Following this, he was assigned as the Lead Engineer for Bombs & Fuzes where he sustained, modernized and procured $5.5B bombs/fuze inventory across 22 product lines. In 2015, Lt Col Wilson was assigned to Officer Training School where he developed/commissioned over 3,000 civilians and prior-enlisted military personnel a year into the Active Duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves and Air National Guard. After OTS, he was assigned to Air Combat Command, where he was responsible for sustaining 32 Air Operation Centers across the world. Prior to his current assignment, Lt Col Wilson was the Chief AOC Modernization, Air Combat Command, Langley AFB, VA.
