Dr. Brown is originally from Greensboro, NC where he discovered a love of chemistry and primarily undergraduate education while completing his undergraduate degree at Guilford College. He has been a chemistry professor since 2020, when he first arrived at the Institute as a visiting professor. He joined the department of chemistry as a full-time faculty member in January of 2024. Dr. Brown completed his Ph.D. research under Dr. Elon Ison at North Carolina State University, where he studied the synthesis and catalytic mechanism of Frustrate Lewis Pairs (FLPs) using both experimental and computational techniques.
