Dr. Landgraf is a Wisconsin native and has been an economics professor since 2018, teaching at Wittenberg University prior to joining the VMI faculty in 2020. He teaches the introductory courses Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics and electives in Government and Business (antitrust regulation), Economics of Innovation, and Urban Economics. He is also a faculty advisor for the Cadet Investment Group and the Economics Honor Society, Omicron Delta Epsilon. In between finishing his M.S. at Marquette and beginning his Ph.D. at Florida State, he worked for two years as an electricity market operations and forecast analyst for a public power agency. His doctoral research analyzed public-private competition between local Internet service providers and bidding behavior by generators in electricity markets. His current research agenda spans multiple fields and includes analyses of informal online lending markets, alcohol industries, and local amenity effects on property values. Outside of VMI, he is a board member of Yellow Brick Road, an early learning center for children. He enjoys teaching his younger son how to walk, holding his older daughter like a baby, replacing worn out ebike parts, and discovering obscure wine regions of France. He gets additional exercise by running regressions and jumping to conclusions.
